Ask whether they will define your positioning before they design anything, and whether they understand compliance. Most agencies start with logos. The work that changes results starts with the words.

Five questions to ask

  1. What happens before design starts? You want to hear interviews, written positioning and your approval.

  2. Have you worked under the SEC Marketing Rule or FINRA review? Your copy will be reviewed. They should plan for it.

  3. Can I see work for firms like mine, and the sites live today?

  4. Is the price flat, and what is in it?

  5. Who does the work? Find out if the person on the sales call is the person on your project.

Specialist or generalist?

A generalist agency can make a beautiful brand. A financial services specialist already knows what a fiduciary is, why “guaranteed” is a problem word, and how a referral-driven firm actually gets clients. You pay less to teach them your business.

Red flags

A logo presentation in week one. A price that grows by the hour. Portfolio sites where every advisor’s homepage looks the same.

Where FinArt fits

FinArt works with established firms that have outgrown their brand. I was an advisor for eight years. Every project starts with the words, and no design starts until you approve them.
